Jorge L. Covas-Mendoza is one of the founding members of the firm, and a member of its Corporate Department. He is primarily engaged in the areas of secured corporate and commercial finance transactions, debt restructuring and workouts, and general corporate counseling. His finance practice involves the representation of borrowers, financial institutions, and private lenders in a wide range of financing transactions, including acquisitions, project financing, asset based and real estate financings, restructurings, workouts and purchases and sales of distressed credits. He is also experienced in lease-backed government-sponsored real estate development projects for use by global research and development, IT and manufacturing companies. Mr. Covas also works with clients in organizing corporations, planning and implementing corporate recapitalizations, spin-offs’ and other corporate restructurings. Prior to the firm’s founding, he was an associate and later a partner in the Corporate Finance Department of Martínez Odell & Calabria in San Juan.
